Every year I say I'm going to make my own Christmas cards and get them mailed out in a timely manner....well, this year I did it! Not only have they been mailed out but I'm offering them as a cutting files!
The cards where cut out on my Pazzles machine then I embossed the top portion of the card with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I used a glue pen to outline some of the embossing then sprinkled with fine glitter (doesn't show up very well in the photo) but adds a beautiful sparkle. The ornament card has a 2" kaleidoscope in the center. The finished cards measure 8.5" x 5.5" open and 5.5" x 4.25" closed.
This photo shows a side view of the Kaleidoscope Ornament Pop-Up. Dazzling Reflections was used to design a 2" kaleidoscope for the center.
This photo shows a side view of the Snowflake Pop-Up. Silver glitter was applied to the snowflake for a little extra dazzle.
The last card, but certainly not least, Christmas Tree Pop-Up card has a separate tree cut out in green cardstock, embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder then applied over the tree base. Glitter was added to the tree and a gold pen was used to finish off the star. I also used a silver marker to add dots behind the pop-up to look like falling snow.

Just finished designing 3 new cutting files - Christmas Tree, Snowflake and Reindeer cut-out boxes. These boxes are really cute and measure 8" tall, 6" wide, and 2" deep.
Let your creativity flow by embellishing with glitter, rhinestones, and stickers. Click here for information on how to purchase these files.
I've had fun today making these acetate boxes. They are easy to make and I plan to use them as stocking stuffers.
Although I used acetate for the box you could also use cardstock.
The top and bottom for each box was designed in Dazzling Reflections kaleidoscope software. The following video shows how it's done.
The boxes were embellished further with ribbon and rhinestones. This picture shows how the box top looks.
You can add texture to the acetate by running it through a Cuttlebug using one of the embossing folders. The picture below shows a couple of examples using the Diamond and Swiss Dot folders. It's a little hard to see the embossing, but believe me it look great in person.
I hope you like this project and that it inspires you to make your own.
Thanksgiving is almost here and I wanted to make a project using the Autumn Splendor kaleidoscope template pack and use as part of my table setting, or at least to decorate my home.
The weather here today is on the wet side and as I walked down my pathway I was admiring the fallen leaves, some wet some dry, and thought how could I mimic that beautiful effect. The answer, embossing powder!
I made several kaleidoscopes then got out my embossing stamp pad, heat gun and "Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel" by Ranger. The process is simple. Print the kaleidoscope, let dry for a few moments, then with your embossing pad stamp all over the image several times, then apply the Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel and melt with the heat gun....the effect is stunning!
The following video demonstrates the embossing technique that I used. There is another video at the bottom of the posting that shows how the kaleidoscope was designed in Dazzling Reflections.
Here are a few more photos of finished kaleidoscopes. All were printed at 7" with coordinating mats which makes the finished project slightly larger. Foam tape was added between each layer for a more dimensional look.
The photo grouping below shows another kaleidoscope - not part of the freebie file - and illustrates the wet look that I was trying to achieve. I'm going to use this one as a base for a small flower arrangement and place on a table close to the front door.....sure to catch the eye as people enter.
Another great idea for this project would be to write what you are thankful for in the center of the kaleidoscope and display it on a stand for everyone to see.
Even looks great as a scrapbook page. Wreath printed at 10 inches
Doesn't matter if you cut your kaleidoscopes out by hand or use a cutting machine we've got you covered. This freebie includes the kaleidoscope image shown in the above scrapbook page, along with a vectorized cutting file (wpc, svg, ai, eps, and dxf) and mat files in both .jpg and vectorized formats. Autumn is my favorite season, still warm in the day time but nice and crisp at night. The leaves on our tree in the front yard are finally starting to turn and displaying a kaleidoscope of fall colors. I took a few pictures and made several kaleidoscope tiles....just love all the colors in them....to design this card.
The instructions on how to make it are listed at the bottom of this post. Click here if you would like to download the kaleidoscope tile and thr instructions on how to make this card.
Formula for this card:
Using Dazzling Reflections software design and print a 3" square kaleidoscope.
Cut a 12" x 6" piece of cardstock for the base, fold in half.
Cut a 5.75" x 5.75" piece of cardstock and center on the base of the card.
Using 4 coordinating colors of cardstock cut a 4.25" x 1" strip from each color. I embossed these using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.
To assemble first adhere the kaleidoscope to the center of the card then adhere each of the strips.
To finish off I added a brass brad to the center of the kaleidoscope.
