The weather here today is on the wet side and as I walked down my pathway I was admiring the fallen leaves, some wet some dry, and thought how could I mimic that beautiful effect. The answer, embossing powder!
I made several kaleidoscopes then got out my embossing stamp pad, heat gun and "Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel" by Ranger. The process is simple. Print the kaleidoscope, let dry for a few moments, then with your embossing pad stamp all over the image several times, then apply the Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel and melt with the heat gun....the effect is stunning!
The following video demonstrates the embossing technique that I used. There is another video at the bottom of the posting that shows how the kaleidoscope was designed in Dazzling Reflections.
Here are a few more photos of finished kaleidoscopes. All were printed at 7" with coordinating mats which makes the finished project slightly larger. Foam tape was added between each layer for a more dimensional look.
The photo grouping below shows another kaleidoscope - not part of the freebie file - and illustrates the wet look that I was trying to achieve. I'm going to use this one as a base for a small flower arrangement and place on a table close to the front door.....sure to catch the eye as people enter.
Even looks great as a scrapbook page. Wreath printed at 10 inches
Doesn't matter if you cut your kaleidoscopes out by hand or use a cutting machine we've got you covered. This freebie includes the kaleidoscope image shown in the above scrapbook page, along with a vectorized cutting file (wpc, svg, ai, eps, and dxf) and mat files in both .jpg and vectorized formats.
